After I eliminated all the Shadow units in Orthanc using an Ent attack, and then moving one of my remaining Ents there from the Entwood, can I re-form the Entwood in Orthanc?
If yes, this would grant me a free attack (without losing an Ent) whenever the Shadow player recruited units in Orthanc, effectively preventing Saruman from recruiting any units there for the remainder of the game (as the Entwood cannot be destroyed ever).

Isn`t that a bit strange (storywise) and maybe also a bit too powerful (gamewise)?

Normally the game is well under way once the Ent Wood could get to Orthanc and the Ents would probably be better used elsewhere and Saruman could muster Dunlendings in the Rohan settlements he controls.

When the Ents attack Orthanc, do they downgrade the walls of Orthanc like normal Free Armies? And when they destroy the Shadow armies, won't they kill Saruman, too? He is the leader?

When the Ents attack Orthanc, do they downgrade the walls of Orthanc like normal Free Armies? We are waiting for the official answer. And when they destroy the Shadow armies, won't they kill Saruman, too? He is the leader? If there are units when the Ents attack Saruman would be eliminated if the Shadow army is destroyed. If there are no units there Saruman would be unaffected by the Ents. [glow=green,2,300]Veldrin[/glow]

When the Ents attack Orthanc, do they downgrade the walls of Orthanc like normal Free Armies? That should not be the case as the rules state that any hits caused by an Ent attack are immediately applied to the Shadow army after the roll. Terrain effects are not taken into account. But let's wait for the official ruling... Jamiri

If there are units when the Ents attack Saruman would be eliminated if the Shadow army is destroyed. If there are no units there Saruman would be unaffected by the Ents. Does that mean that if the Entwood reforms in an empty Orthanc (save for Saruman) and the shadow player then musters units there, that are then destroyed by the Entwood's free attack, that Saruman is slain with these newly mustered units?

...thus effectively preventing Saruman from recruiting a third of his units. Quite devastating in my opinion...

If he is low on units it can be devastating but normally that far into the game (so the Ents can have reached Orthanc) Saruman can muster Hillmen in the Rohan Settlements he controls.

has there already been an official answer for the "can the Ents downgrade the walls of orthanc"-question?

If he is low on units it can be devastating but normally that far into the game (so the Ents can have reached Orthanc) Saruman can muster Hillmen in the Rohan Settlements he controls. You're right on the Dunlendings, but in my opinion it requires only the first six Ents to reach and to clear out East Nan Curunir and to re-form the Entwood there. In terms of recruitment potential that region has the same value to Saruman as Orthanc (which you could take in the next Ent activation easily). Far better than to blockade Orthanc, however, is to re-form in West Nan Curunir, as any units that come from Orthanc have to pass through this region and will receive substantial damage while moving through.
