I think it's almost always worth doing. The exception is when you're sprinting and really can't spare the Fellowship move (and there are only a couple turns left in the game).

Yeah, if it comes out Turn 2, it has to go. Turn 10, not so much. Late in the game more cards are used as combat cards anyway.
Here's another question: Would you blow it away with Wind from the West? Again, I think the answer is yes, but the turn stall is pretty scary too.
