Is it possible to take a casualty even if the hunt tile caused no corruption?
The question came up after a succesful hunt when Gandalf the grey was the guide and FPP had a nice will-of-the-west die left to bring in Gandalf the white immediately in the same turn (it can be a long wait for the next will-of-the-west). The hunt tile showed 0 corruption, however.
Perhaps it is bad strategy to take Gandalf as corruption in this situation, but this is a rule question, not a strategy question. Is it allowed or not?
Since it is allowed to take a casualty with a higher level than the corruption (reducing corruption to 0, but not negative) it does not seem completely forbidden to start Gandalf's transformation in our situation.
Another hypothetical situation of relevance is if the FPP will need to take the final step to mount doom in the beginning of the next turn, and has more than 1 companion left. Eliminating one of them will reduce the number of eye tiles before the final step in the next turn, while the remaining companion preserves the damage reduction capacity.

Welcome. Oldshortsnout!
No, it's not allowed. This is covered in the FAQ. No damage - no casualty.

OK.
I did try to find it in the FAQ, but I guess I missed it.
