Hello people!
I've noticed siege engines have not specifically been defined as 'units' but as 'defensive tactics and equipment employed by combatants' (unlike factions which are 'special unit types'). They have independent rules for stacking (max 2) and don't count toward the maximum number of Army Units permitted in a region or stronghold.
But does this mean they are never considered 'units'?
If for example 'Help Unlooked For' is played (where the SP rolls one combat die less for each FP unit present in a besieged stronghold when attacked by an adjacent FP relief force) will a FP siege engine count toward the modified battle as a unit or ignored like leaders and characters are? As the card does not state 'Army Unit' but simply the generic use of the term 'unit' I find myself needing a little clarification....
I'm assuming the answer in this example is to count only the army units present in the besieged fortress...
Cheers!

You are correct, the siege engines are not considered units.
