Gandalf's ability to negate Nazgul leadership states that it is declared "before the battle"
If I have a Nazgul present and play Word of Power and Terror, will that card negate Gandalf's ability, or will Gandalf's ability win because it was declared "before the battle" and is therefore already active?
In other words - I attack an army containing Gandalf the White with an army including Nazgul.
Gandalf's player declares his ability. The card I choose for the first round is Words of Power and Terror.
Gandalf's leadership is gone either way, but do I get my Nazgul leadership or not?
Thanks!
EDIT: My take on it is that the card takes precedence. Canceling the ability prevents it from working. Whether or not it was declared or not, it is still gone.
My friend sees it the other way. Once the ability is declared, removing it from the card in question doesn't help as it's already in effect...
Anyway...

"Words of Power" takes presedence since it can be played if a Nazgûl is present, it doesn't need Nazgûl Leadership.

Does Words of Power negate Gandalf's ability for the rest of the battle (since the ability use had to be declared "at the beginning of the battle") or just for the round (since battle card effects only last for one round)?

Only one round as the card only lasts for one round of combat.
