We just had an interesting game where the Sauron player was on the defensive due to an unexpected rapid strike towards Mt Gundabad by the men of the North and towards Moria by the elves of Lorien and Mirkwood.
My question, however, relates to the use of certain SA player combat cards that describe defending armies. The cards "Devilry of Orthanc" and "Durin's Bane" (combat effect of the Balrog card) both provide bonuses to the SA player when the "defending army" is in a stronghold or within two regioins of Moria respectively. My question then is whether the SA player can be counted as the defending army in these cases (when defending Moria from a FP assault for example) thus allowing use of these cards?

The Shadow player can use these cards when the defending army is a Shadow army, so the Balrog could help when the nasty Elves are attacking Moria and Devilry of Orthanc can be used to defend an Isengard army in Orthanc or any other Stronghold if the Isengard unit is in the defending army.
