I know that WOTR is being shown about the different gaming conventions... I am wondering if anyone here has any idea whether it will be shown at the San Diego Comic-Con?
In years past they have had a good smattering of board games and the like on offer - and so my optimism and desire to try this game out (or at least see it in its pre-fab glory) wants to know if San Diego might be the way I can get a peak!

WotR wasn't shown at San Diego, afaik. I think that most of the Lord of the Rings stuff shown there has some relationship with the movies' license.

So I discovered. Although there were a few game companies there, they were largely from the RPG and PC-Game markets. I did get a chance to check out EA's upcoming Battle for Middle Earth RTS - which looks wonderful. The LOTR pavillion was quite large - loads of stuff. Sideshow and WETA were there showing off all kinds of really cool stuff from the films, including the upcoming New Line extended DVD items (mini MInas Tiriths and Minas Morguls). There were many LOTR booths showing off the CCG, the Clix version of LOTR, computer games, costumes, figures, weapons, maps, etc. Dom Monaghan (Merry) was there pimping his new TV show. Billy Boyd (Pippin) and David Wenham (Faramir) were both there signing autographs and talking with fans. But alas! NO WOTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if they didn't have a playable copy, it would have been real cool to have a promo version set-up for people to look at and ask questions... it would have been a real crowd pleaser... Oh well... just a couple more months!!
