Here's my situation in a nutshell. I bought the game a few weeks ago and just finished painting all of the figures. (What was I thinking?) I've been studying all of the rules and FAQs available here and on Boardgamegeek. (great forum here, BTW) I started a game on Sunday with my wife and immediately realized I was not ready to be a student and a teacher. We got through two rounds, but I wanted to ask a few questions before my wife tries to put Frodo and Sam on a Corsair ship and sail them off the game board to safety.
1) I've read on some threads about a Gandalf and Aragorn anti-corruption ability for up to 3 corruption points, but I'm not finding it in the rules. I probably inhaled too many fumes from the Testors cans, but any help would be appreciated.
2) Specifically WHEN does the Shadow player Hunt for the fellowship in the turn sequence? After they move, and before or after combat? What if they don't move?
3) I put the Gandalf figure on top of all of the companion cards, but then I had no idea what his abilities were because I'm not a total WOTR geek yet. (give me time) Should I keep the guide's card in front of me while playing, but leave the others in the fellowship box? What say you?
4) Just to clarify, if Isengard is active and attacks an FP occupied region in Rohan which is not yet active, will it take 4 attacks from the Shadow before they are at war? (First attack makes them active, the others move them down the political track.) Assuming the region isn't activated by another action before the attack. That seems pretty passive for a nation surrounded by evil! Perhaps the FPP should just have unconditional talks with Sauruman to try and persuade him to play nice. We'll call it the Obama maneuver.
Well, that's it for now, but I'm sure I'll be back. Thanks for any assistance, and with any luck I'll unleash hell on my wife over Thanksgiving. I can see myself at the dinner table on Thursday, gnawing on a hobbit's leg that's been slow roasted over Nazgul breath! (or am I thinking of Smaug? I have so much to learn!)
