I agree that another Battle game board (scenarios) would be good - probably both DEW and Lorien would be the most interesting scenarios. Others might be a Black Gate battle, Eriador/Rivendell scenario, and/or a Southern Gondor battle (maybe around Pelagir) with Aragorn/Army of Dead/Gondor vs Corsairs of Umbar.
For the base game I would like to see the following: 1) Variant setups including: (a) Breaking of the Fellowship - starting from Falls of Rauros for a shorter game. (b) Shire to Mordor option - much longer game
2) Include Elrond in the game (maybe as part of the Shire to Mordor variant) or perhaps as a character to be brought in similar to Galadriel (with different requirements/benefits)

Things for the second expansion: 1) Eagles that don't suck eggs. 2) Dead Men that aren't DOA. 3) A multi-purpose Grond, with sculpt. 4) Misty Mountains as a semi-independant state under an autonomous and more powerful Balrog.
For the battle games, I'd like to see some indication that people riding horseback move faster than people marching on their own feet. Sheesh!

See my post below on Battle in the North for why I think a Scouring of the Shire game should be included.
And I want an Eowyn miniature!
Lew Pulsipher, designer of Britannia, is considering a Middle Earth game covering the entire third age. This would use his "Sweep of History" mechanic to cover a longer period. The system would play for something like 15-20 turns, with each turn representing a set period of the age, and with new armies and characters added at the correct moment in time. Each player controls a number of nations, which score points for holding certain areas at important historical intervals. The game would represent movements and migrations of entire peoples over long periods, rather than individual campaigns.

That sounds cool. Actually, I think the scope should be even bigger, starting with the 1st age. Nothing would be as much fun as corrupting Numenor to the point where the gods are outraged and drop a meteor on it. :sauron:
(PS: can we steal the sauron smiley from the geek?)
