While the full descriptive reports are colorful, I have myself found it tough to capture all the details well. With a bit of work, I've devised the following:
AREA NAMES - use a 4 character nomenclature - ignore "of" and "the" - use first character of each word, then next characters of last word to create the 4 letter nomenclature. ----->Erebor = EREB ----->Minas Tirith = MTIR ----->North Anduin Vale = NAVA ----->Vale of the Carnen = VCAR *EXCEPTION* --> Old Ford = OFRD (as Old Forrest = OFOR)
UNITS - a simple #Type works ----->1 Elite, 4 Regulars = 1E4R
CHARACTERS - use brackets  to denote characters with 2 letter abbreviations --->Witch King = [WK] --->Saruman = [SA] --->Mouth of Sauron = [MS] ---------- --->Gandalf the Grey = [GG] --->Strider = [ST] --->Boromir = [BO] --->Gimli = [GI] --->Legolas = [LE] --->Merry = [ME] --->Pippin = [PI] --->Gandalf the White = [GW] --->Aragorn = [AR]
EVENT CARDS - All cards are numbers (x/24) so S# or C# works there.
MOVEMENT - Use Starting Area -> Ending Area. Add (units) if not all units from area are moving. Ex. MTIR(2R)->OSGI
COMBAT - As movement but note: ATT: starting area->Ending area. - Denote each round and note SP and FP card play and casualties ---> 1: SP(S7)-2R FP(x)-4R
