Sorry if I sound like one of the guards from the Lancelot segment of "Holy Grail", but I'm in manufacturing so there are no stupid questions.....
1. p.16 of English rules (Entering War) states clearly that units of a non-belligerent Nation cannot attack enemy armies and "All the restrictions listed above apply even if units of a non-belligerent Nation are stacked with units of a Nation At War". However, p.13 (Attacking with Armies) says that "It is not necessary to attack with all units of an army...". Therefore, can I have an army of mixed At War units (say, Elves) and non-belligerent units (say, North) in Hollin and attack only with the Elves toward Moria, and leave the North in the rearguard?
2. In the FAQ under Combat we see:
"Q: Can a character...decide to sortie out of a beseiged Stronghold with all remaining units, but without the Character, toward certain death. Yes, the Stronghold is lost, but the Character, and his extra action die, are not.
A: No, for any or all Characters/Leaders to stay behind, at least one unit must be left with them."
I thought that *Characters* could exist in the absence of units? And once the defenders sally forth to certain death, the Stronghold is no longer under siege and the Character can escape at his lesiure....
3. Also in the FAQ
"Q: If a player uses a Character action die to attack with an army, must the Character/Leader actually participate in the attack, or must he simply be in the same region
A: You are always allowed to use the Leader....."
Nevertheless, can I leave the Leader in the reaguard and protect him from potential casualty?
Thanks.
