Follow-Up-Question: So I assume one may also use a companion to reduce the harm of a hunt initiated by an event card. Am I right? I am asking because in our first game we assumed that one cannot do so.

You can always use a Companion to lessen the damage of a Hunt tile unless it is specifically stated on the Event card played to initiate the Hunt that all damage must be taken as Corruption.

(...) unless it is specifically stated on the Event card played to initiate the Hunt that all damage must be taken as Corruption. In this case, I assume, one may neither play a "corruptuion reduce event card"!?

Actually you are allowed to play a "corruptuion reduce event card" if you by that term mean a card such as "Axe and Bow" or "Horn of Gondor" wich is in play on the table since they are used to reduce Corruption from a drawn Hunt tile.

Sorry, I didn't get that.
If an event card (e.g. 'Isildur's Bane') is played saying: "(...) The Fellowship must take all such damage as Corruption", the FP may use an already played 'On Table'-Card (e.g. 'Axe and Bow') to reduce the Hunt Damage but he may not use a companion (still in the Fellowship) to do the same? Is this right? If yes, this seems not very logical to me! Either both should be possible or both prohibited.

Perhaps it isn't logical. Perhaps you should make a house rule that "protection cards" only can be used when the Corruption must be taken as a casualty?
But you understood it correctly. A "protection card" can be used against Isildur's Bane, Foul Thing from the Deep etc. since the "protection cards" can be used if a Hunt tile is drawn.
