I apologize! The rules DO clearly state that it's a Shadow-controlled stronghold that causes a re-roll. I was assuming the rules agreed with what Roberto/Francesco had told us in another post.
But Roberto has just confirmed here again that we SHOULD play with re-rolls only for Shadow strongholds, regardless of control (and in this case, regardless of what the rulebook says!).
Is this right, Roberto? Again, you can make the intuitive argument both ways, but your earlier comment seems to imply that only originally Shadow strongholds are intended to allow re-rolls, and that they will do so regardless of ownership.
My two cents on the Nazgul question is of course that they should be allowed to go wherever there are SA troops or to SA-controlled spaces, so they should certainly be able to go to a FP stronghold space with only Shadow troops in it.
Here's something that's not quite a rules question, since it's probably somewhere in the rules, but I just thought of it and don't know the answer: once the Shadow conquers a FP stronghold, do they have to garrison it? Or does it stay Shadow-controlled even if they leave the space?

See Capturing a Settlement on page 15. No garrison required but it's probably wise to leave at least a regular to avoid surprises.

The rules are correct.
Roberto just told us, the playtester, to ignore the previous ruling you are reffering to.
Hopefully he will pop by and say it himself.

OK The corrected official ruling from Roberto is:
Re-rolls are checked in shadow controlled strongholds
so: original ones controlled yes captured from the FP yes captured by the FP no
Clear as crystal!

Indeed, clear as crystal (I think). So, if the fellowship is declared in a FP stronghold (or city) then the SA-player can try to capture in order to gain one or more re-rolls in the hunt, right? And in case of a Nazgul, he can lead in a SA controlled FP-stronghold Using the new official ruling from Roberto, then what are the answers to: With Question A one could say that the hunt has no re-roll and that there is also no extra hunt tile drawn. Only the Balrog could be nasy, I guess...
