We played this expansion 3 times now in addition to the collector's edition and lords of middle earth.
We are not overly excited by this expansion, although it adds depths, it also creates FAR too much pre-requisites and dices/cards needed to do something. For instance, the corsairs are very complex to understand what they can do and how they move, it is all explained but once brought into the game, it depends on what you draw after how you can use them. With 24 cards, this can take forever which I know is a risk you take, but with only 4 faction cards in your hand max, it does become complex what to do...
It creates an overcrowded game, too many cards and too many rules to keep up with causing players to need a long time to decide what to do in a round...
Unclarity on cards, unclear when what applies when and why, no clear pre-requisites everywhere.
Overall, I find the free people's factions much stronger also in call to battle cards effects, the shadow in my games has NEVER used ANY of his call to battle cards effects yet in 3 games...
I'm not totally negative, there are some good effects as well, but overall our games have become slower and less dynamic with the expansion...
