We got a fantastic play last saturday with all nations at war and knowing the smell of fight (except for some dwarves). And we got something so spectacular that it looked "logic" when knowing a bit about hobbits:
A Mordor army from Gundabad with 1 elite, 4 regulars and 1 Nazgul came to attack the Shire, guarded by 3 regulars northmen that we decided to call Hobbits as it would fit well...
First combat round, the hobbit digged in their town, ready to fight at least this round before fleeing to security in Grey Haven. The SP makes no hit (all dies under 5) in the first combat roll. "The hobbits strike back" and roll 5-5-6. Wow! SP Leader roll: nuts!
The SP degrades his elite to remain with 3 units.
The FP decides that hobbits will never surrender their weed to the Mordor: "let's die stoned!" errr, I mean, "let's die, stones in our hands!"
Second combat roll, SP needs now to make 5 to hit and rolls: 4-2-1 (haha, wrong game!)
FP rolls his dice and scores a triple 6!!!!
SP leader roll: nuts!
We both looked at the Shire for some time, contemplating the situation and trying to "dream it".
So here is the idea, after all, it was "pure logic" and not luck because hobbits are knowed for their ability in throwing stones and their incredible luck.
I wonder if this would unbalance game or not for this simple rule:
3 north regular armies maximum can be considered as hobbits. As long as they are in the Shire, they can only be hit by a natural 6 (no modifiers will work on them) on the 1st combat round.
On 2nd combat round, consider them as being in a city, normal rules applies.
SP must wait the 3rd combat round to hit on 5+.
Hobbits can hit back and ALWAYS hit on 5+ (no battle card can't reduce this) due to their accuracy (inside the Shire).
Hobbits can't move outside except inside the Northern region border but in these other regions (like Bree), normal combat rules aplies, hobbits are considered as normal regulars.
So ? Yes I know, this is somewhat anecdotic since I guess in most of games there will be no fight in the Shire but could such approach be considered as "balanced ?"
