I do not like the official answer to the question what to do with the event card "Grey Company" if there is no Regular unit there with Aragorn.
So my House Rule for this event card will be the following: "If no Regular unit is present, simply recruit one Regular unit"
Which is, in my opinion, comparable to the "normal" effect of the card and better fits into the "historical" meaning of the card, namely that Aragorns ranger-fellows come to support him.

But only from the available reinforcements right? Not from the dead pile.
Personally I'd prefer if the card allowed the recruiting of a North unit (doesn't matter what the composition of the army is), without the need to remove a regular at all, which would then reflect the event from the book - the Rangers of the North ... Nigel

I think the game designers have made a tiny mistake here, which can however be rectified by a simple house rule. Remember, Halbarad and the thirty Rangers of the North, along with Elrond's twin sons, Elladan and Elrohir, should be an addition to the army, not a substitute. As such, they should not count towards the figure limit of elites that can be recruited by any one nation. My solution is to allow the elite figure their upgrade produces to be taken from the pile of dead, if possible, of the nation they join.
