1. Book of Mazarbul
"You *may* immediately move any or all Companions on the map.
If, after this move, a Companion is in Erebor or Ered Luin, move the Dwarven Nation directly to the 'at War' step, even if the Dwarven Nation is not active."
Must the Companion that is in Erebor or Ered Luin be one that moved via this event? In other words, should the text read "If, as a result of this move, a Companion...."
My guess is no, esp. since the word "may" is involved.
2. Fear!Fire!Foes!
Same logic as question (1). Should the card read "If, as a result of this move....."
3. I Will Go Alone
"Separate one Companion....."
next paragraph >"Then heal one corruption point"
Do I have to separate a Companion in order to heal one corruption point? What if I have no Companions to separate? The word *may* is notoriously absent here.
4. There and Back Again
a combo of question (1,2) issue and question (3) issue
"Separate a Companion..."
"If, after this move, either Gimli...."
So *must* I separate a Companion to make it to the second paragraph? If I do make it to the second paragraph, does Gimli or Legolas have to be one that was separated?
My guess is that I must separate some Companions, but Gimli/Legolas does not have to be amongst them (one of them can already be sitting in town). Otherwise the first paragraph would have read "separate Legolas and/or Gimli...."
5. Faramir's Rangers
first para "Choose a Shadow Army..."
second para "Then, if there is a Free Peoples...."
Must there be a Shadow army for me to choose, in order to make it to the second paragraph? In other words, should the card start by saying "Playable if a Shadow Army is in...."
My guess is that the first paragraph is not a precondition, in line with the ruling on Grey Company. Even if the unit upgrade cannot be accomplished, the player still gets to draw his two strategy cards.
6. Help Unlooked For
"You may immediately attack a Shadow Army..."
May I do this even if I am not at War?
I guess yes.
