Combining the CE with the LOME expansion

Hi there, I have a question on this after examening both games. I have the normal LOME expansion, the 2nd edition game and the CE.

How can I incorporate the new event cards of LOME to the CE? I suppose I can't as they have white rounds around them and those of the CE have black rounds. The limited edition I've seen of LOME doesn't come with black rounds either. So during play, you would immediately see what card is up when it has a white strip around it, then it would be a LOME card.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Can the card sleeves help, I'm not sure what they look like but if they are 100% plastic it won't help either.

Or am I missing something here? I could use the 2nd edition cards, but they lack the "twilight of the third age" expansion cards, those for the corsairs and the different way to play the ents etc.

In order to use LoME with the Collector's Edition, you must use the 2nd edition rules and cards. However, these are not compatible with Twilight of the Third Age, which is a 1st edition expansion. In other words, you can either play the 1st edition with TotTA or the 2nd edition with LoME.

Yeah, I thought as much, thanks! Or find a way to get the events cards in sleeves that hide like a few mm's of the edges.

On the other hand, might be a bit much to combine the CE with the twilight and LOME...

I could look into partly combining them, the new rings are interesting from LOME and so are a few new characters, but those extra cards are a shame they can't be used and they are needed for some characters and events, although some are simply double.

ok thanks, I'll think about it, but the sleeves are no solution right, as they do not cover up a small part of the sides?

I suppose it would depend on the sleeve. I've never used them myself.

I have used a black permanent marker to black out the white lines in the LoME expension cards to use them with the full collectors edition cards, including the twilight of the third age expansion. Some cards are already there, those cannot be added. What is left is I believe 1 strategy and 3 or 4 character cards. The card sleeves from the upgrade kit fit great and make seeing the blackening of the lines impossible. We play with the latest character cards, I painted myself the 6 characters from the normal LoME expansion to fit with the collectors editions paints based on the collectors LoME characters (as can be seen on youtube). These are Gandalf the White, Aragorn, Lord Elrond, the Witch king LoME version, Gothmog and the Mounth of Sauron LoME version. We play 2nd edition rules and LoME and twilight rules. It plays fantastic and seems very balanced with powerful possibilities for both.
