Would it be possible to make a EPIC game based on the WotR rules considering all three ages of middleearth? Such a game would have at least 100 pages of rules plus some further pages for the special circumstances of each age and sub-age. The board would need tripled size. Maybe there would be markers to cover the broken parts of the world in 2. and 3. age. There should be a stack build of several layers, each containing all events of one age. We would have Valar and Earendil. We would have Morgoth. We would have armies of balrogs or dragons. And the elimination of Sauron (or Morgoth) would be only a small part of the story. And we would have to play several days long until one side wins...
I always wanted to play these rules with military balanced forces, without the ring or fate. I like the idea to play the free people only military (You only need 4 points, so you have better chances, not?). And i love these epic battles with huge armies on both sides.

Great idea, but an incredible difficult task.
Yet, to my opinion such a long warfare makes no sense, for through the ages war was interrupted by peace times. Even more units must change or extinct on a time schedule.
I longed to see the next extensions following "Lords of Middle Earth". The ents just don't feel right at the moment and siege engines were one of my favorite.
Gaining 4 VP against a shadow who ignores the ring is unlikely, I think. I once played 23 turns military, spending every single free people unit... in vain.
Have fun, Henry
